Twitter Buttons On Your Website: Likes, Follows Or Both?
Utilising the power and reach that Twitter offers as a great social networking and micro-blogging service is a challenge we here at Intergage have embraced!
A strong business case or argument can be made for the use of Twitter across the majority of industries and sectors, with a large percentage of current websites utilising the power and use of share buttons from Twitter and other social networking or social bookmarking services.
(If you are new to Twitter or want to find out more then we offer training workshops on Social Media for B2B and B2C. as well as specifically just on Twitter.)
Does your website just have a “Tweet” button or have you added the “Follow” button as well?
Before deciding if you need both buttons on your website, you need to recall why you initially needed and wanted a Twitter ‘stream’.
• Was it to communicate to just existing customers?
• To create “noise” via regular and interesting Tweets to then be found by others in the Twitisphere?
• To get your great content out to drive traffic to your site?
• To gain followers and establish your company as an authority on a subject matter?
Whatever your initial reasons, we trust that Twitter has been successful for you as a very powerful and rewarding aspect of social networking and micro-blogging.
For me, I would encourage you to consider having both buttons on your website and present your website visitors with two great choices:
• Do I just want to share this great piece of content by clicking the “Tweet” button?
• Or this great piece of content is really engaging and I want to see more from them, I need to “Follow” them!
Gaining Followers in Twitter will ensure that your regular and interesting Tweets are seen and potentially shared by more people, which can only be a good thing right?
Adding a “Follow” button is very simple and straightforward, taking less than 5 minutes. Want help with this task just call or email the Intergage Customer Service team and they will be more than happy to help.
